Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」【趴趴吧】Pop-Up Bar

這次要跟大家分享的是：
「如何將自家的屋頂天台改造成完美派對場地」！
通常一般人家的屋頂天台是沒有水電的，可是一個最基本的派對場地，一定要有水來供應吧台、有電來供應燈光音響。我們特別邀請到駐村工程藝術家「小寶」，運用最低的預算、現場有限的資源，生出「水」「電」兩大場地硬體必要元素！

How to Make a Perfect Party on Your Own Rooftop?
Yes, just like most of people, we didn't really have water and power supply on the roof, but they are the basic requirements to start a party! We have invited our "Resident Engineer- Ray" to connect both water and power up to the roof within limited resources! Let's see how the magic works!

我們從水塔的出水孔，另外接出一段水管，接上水龍頭，擺上一個小型流理台，簡易的調酒吧台後製區就完成了！

We extended the water from the drain hole of the water tower, connected to an vintage faucet we liked over a small sink. There you go, a perfect small backstage of the bar!

為了用電安全，我們除了從總開關拉電源上去，還特別為屋頂的電源增加了一個斷電器，以確保活動場地及人員的安全。

And for the electricity safety, we added another circuit breaker just for the roof power to make sure the main power for downstairs still working if anything happen.

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」菜園 Garden

從照片後面的圍牆彩繪就可以證明，這真的是還沒整理之前的菜園。田心12號的菜園中間有一口井，記得很小的時候，前院還沒有所謂的菜園，每天早上村子裡的婦女都會聚集在井邊，一邊洗衣服一邊聊天。後來自來水方便了，住戶圍牆規劃起來，這片可以用井水灌溉的菜園，就變成了阿祖阿嬤自給自足的小天地。老長輩相繼辭世之後，雖然菜園有借給鄰居耕作，但大部分還是雜草叢生，或者放任生長變成一大叢，需要仔細整理一番，才能符合我們需要的規模。尤其是水井周圍的磚籬需要加高，否則每次一下雨，泥水便偃塞成小池塘(就差幾條錦鯉就可以賣魚飼料賺小費了，哈哈)。

除草工作也很繁複，常常這邊除完，另一頭又長出來... 最辛苦的就是爸爸，拿著鋤頭鬆土、整出一塊塊小區域，再分批栽植我們喜愛的蔬菜、香料植物，還得不厭其煩地抓菜蟲、施肥。看著種子成為幼苗，幼苗開始茁壯，開花、結果，一直到收成，經過媽媽的好手藝成為美味健康的盤中飧，原本像個小叢林的菜園，終於成為名符其實的「開心農場」！

From the old wall painting in the back of the first picture, it was how it looked like of the original garden of Sweet House No.12. There is a well in the garden. And I remembered that many women in this village would come here for laundry and chatting every morning when I was a child. After the water supply were set, fence were built, this area became self-satisfied garden for my great grandma and grandma as it could be watered by the well. It has been abandoned after they passed away, although there was a neighbor came to plant her own vegetables, it was still overgrown of the weeds. Especially the well area, it would become a small pond after raining every time.

Weeding is an annoying, iterant job, they just never stop growing! Dad earns all credit by spending so much time and efforts on it. From weeding to planting, he organized the garden into several areas to seeding all different kinds of veges and spices that we like.  Looking those baby sprout growing bigger and bigger everyday, turn into flower, turn into fruits...turn into Mom's recipe :) We are so grateful to every meal we have on table!

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」店中店 Fyntage Shop

前次介紹 Fyntage工作室的文章有提到，當時土角厝的主屋被民國75年的韋恩怪颱破壞之後，阿祖阿嬤的生活起居就移到邊厝這邊來。你們現在看到的是客廳的部分，不過主屋重建之後，邊厝客廳也難免又淪為儲藏室(基本上後來整個邊厝都是儲藏室了啦！)而這裡，就是我們想要改造成店鋪的地方。

關於這個客廳，我腦海中印象最深刻的有兩件事：小時候回來過暑假，我喜歡坐在這個客廳左側的一排藤椅，看著客廳右側只有三台頻道、需要旋鈕的拉門電視機，然後面前擺上一竹簍的荔枝，邊吃邊看節目，忘我地吃到流鼻血... 還有一件比較難過的記憶，就是有一晚上我在這邊看電視，堂哥在廚房大灶生火燒水，我突然聽到門外有奇怪的唉唉呻吟，但因為戶外一片漆黑，當下心裡著實害怕，叫喚堂哥過來才趕踏出大門，定睛一看才發現竟然是阿祖摔跤，整個人趴臥在地上！那時候並沒有手機這些便利的聯繫方式，趕緊叫鄰居打電話找回大人 ，送阿祖去醫院。如今我都還懊悔著，如果小時候勇敢一點，立刻跑出去處理，是不是就可以讓阿祖免於中風、長命百歲呢？

In previous article about how we set up Fyntage Studio, I have mentioned that great grandma and grandma's living area had shifted to the side house due to the damage of main house by Typhoon Wayne in 1986. What you just saw is the living room of side house which sadly had been used as store room after the main house was rebuilt. And this is the place we planned to transform into a souvenir shop.

I have 2 vivid memories about this living room in childhood. I used to come back here for summer vacations, and I loved to sit on rattan bench and watch TV, the old kind with sliding door TV set, and had a full basket of lychee at the same time till I got my nose bleeding... (Lychee is a kind of fruit that cause in-flaming based on Chinese medicine) The other story is a little bit sad. One night I was watching TV as usual, and my cousin (1 year older brother) was making fire to boil water by the brick stove in the kitchen. I suddenly heard some whining out side the door. It was dark and I was too scared, so I cried for cousin to company me to check it out. Then I realized it was my great grandma fell on the ground! There was no cellphone back that time, we ran to neighbors for help and sent great grandma to hospital. Till now I still feel regretful for not being brave enough to go out at once, or I could have prevent her stroke and make her live longer.

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」工作室 Fyntage Studio

 古坑民宿「田心12號」這間側屋的年代比主屋更久遠，是爸媽當年結婚時才將豬舍改建成新房。而拿來當工作室的這間，就是我們家的房間。我腦中還有一家四口睡在這張通舖的印象，那時候小妹Fyn還沒出生，我和大妹Mimi也都還小。床鋪上一定有蚊帳，因為古早的窗戶並沒有紗窗，還有一台綠色鐵製的古董風扇，小時候睡覺時還曾經不小心把腳指頭伸進去切到指甲。床底下總是陰暗暗的好像很恐怖，童年的我從來不知道裡面有什麼，除了一只紅色的尿桶。夜半時想如廁，媽媽就把尿桶拿出來，讓我們在房裡上廁所，蓋上蓋子，第二天早上再拿出去沖掉。

當時還是土角厝的主屋，在民國75年被怪颱韋恩颱風刮走屋頂，損失慘重只好忍痛拆掉，重建樓房。水泥樓房蓋好之後，生活起居都移往新屋，側屋這邊就逐漸成為儲藏室。如同很多中生代家庭一樣，在都市裡用不到的東西也一點一點搬回鄉下老家，東西就越積越多。

為了改成小妹的工作室，除了認真將雜物整理丟棄之外，牆角裂痕也一一封補。長大後的我們也終於敢一窺通舖床底下的世界，把阿嬤收藏的棧板、木板等物件都清空。接著把爸爸的超大辦公桌搬進來，拆解阿祖壞掉的裁縫車架上小妹的電動裁縫機，小妹的自創品牌Fyntage古著衣間工作室就在此誕生！

The side house of Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin, is much older than the existing main house. It was rebuilt from a piggery to a bungalow house for my parents' wedding. The studio room was our family bedroom then. I still have the memory of 4 of my family sleeping in this room in my head, my younger sister (Mimi) and I were very little, baby sister (Fyn) hasn't born yet. There was always a mosquito net over the bed (no window screen back that time), a green iron-made fan at the corner, and a red potty pan under the bed. I remember that mom had used to let us urinate in the pan when we needed to go in the middle of night, then flushed it away the next morning.

The original main house was made by soil with straw, the tile roof was blown away by Typhoon Wayne in 1986, so we had to torn it down and built a concrete one. After then, the side house became a storeroom for decades.

In order to transform the room into Fyn's studio, we organized those piled stuffs and sealed the wall cracks. Moved in dad's old office desk, assembled great grandma's broken sawing machine with Fyn's electronic one, and "Fyntage Studio" has been successfully established!

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」衛浴&樓梯間 Bathroom&Staircase

 古坑民宿「田心12號」因為原本只是農村民宅，衛浴只有一套，不過由於應用了樓梯間下方的空間，在那個年代來講，已經算是很大的衛浴間。我們原來的整修計畫，除了把整套老舊的衛浴淘汰之外，也想把經歷地震而稍有裂痕的地板磁磚敲掉重鋪；不過由於經費實在有限，只能把錢花在刀口上，便拜託從事室內設計的朋友，幫我們以工廠價買到好看大方經濟實惠的單品 (組合起來還不錯吧)。至於地板磁磚，只好先放棄，先自行用塑鋼土和批土把較大的破洞補起來。

還有還有，我們最愛廢物利用，舊浴室拆下來的毛巾架，我們分別改裝在廚房窗戶掛調理工具，以及後陽台收納清潔工具喔。樓梯間則是採用了「媽媽牌」生活智慧王的聰明點子，在牆上釘根木條當作支撐，架上竹竿後，便成了一個室內曬衣場，這樣就算是下雨天，也能洗衣晾衣。(媽媽果然好厲害呀！)

Since Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin, is an old-style farm house, we only have one bathroom for whole family use. But we fully used the space of staircase; it was a quite large bathroom in that time. In our renovation plan, we wanted to change all the facilities including the floor tiles. But there was priority for budget, we asked favor from a friend of mine who was an interior designer, she helped me to get wholesaler price for pieces we need. It's not so bad putting them together, right? 

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」【彩虹房】RAINBOW Theme Room

這裡以前是我們一家五口的房間，回鄉團圓時一家子就睡這裡。後來小妹就讀雲林科技大學，正好就近住在阿嬤家，於是變成小妹一個人的房間。雖然牆壁斑駁，但小妹還是把它布置得很有「大學生宿舍」的感覺，也就是「亂」，哈哈哈！房裡原本媽媽的梳妝台嫁妝，和爸爸以前的董事長桌椅，到現在都還留著，分別在不同的房間繼續服役喔。

This room was the family room for 5 of my family, and my little sister's own room while she studying in Yunlin Tech. University. Although the wall was mottled, she had this room very "student-dorm like", which means messy, LOL! My mom's dressing table and dad's "CEO" desk that used to be in this room are still now serving in other rooms,

Makeover Tuesday- 古坑民宿「田心12號」【漫畫房】背包客通舖 MANGA Backpacker Mixed Dorm

 古坑民宿「田心12號」這間通舖最早是阿祖阿嬤的房間，因為她們慣了硬床，總覺得彈簧床太軟。後來我們這些孫子長大些，逢年過節房間不夠睡，晚上就會來這裡和阿嬤一起睡，因此棉被和枕頭也都成堆的放在這裡。阿嬤會縫製很大的收納布袋，一大包一大包的，裡面也有用來鋪底又硬又舊的棉被。爸爸很喜歡拍照，所以家裡有很多大相框，原本牆上掛著是我們這一家的全家福、我與妹妹小時候的照片，現在都收起來了。

處理這間通舖，除了重新拉電線和插座位置，最大的工程就是修復木板床。木板表面已經有許多刮痕，也因為長年欠缺保養顯得非常乾澀。我們必須先磨掉一層表面，塗上底漆，乾上一天一夜；換細一點砂紙再磨，再上漆，再乾再磨，如此重複三次，最後再上金油保護漆和打蠟，光是這個步驟就花了整整一週以上！和室拉門的障子紙也都破損，得小心翼翼的拆下，並刮除殘膠。不過因為我們實在沒有自信能把紙門換得漂亮，所以還是請專業師父代勞。牆壁釘上層版，擺上我們三姊妹從小到大收集的漫畫，因此這間通舖除了成為提供多人混宿的背包客通舖，平常便成了大人小孩都喜歡的「滾來滾去看漫畫遊戲間」！

This Japanese-styled room is one of guestrooms of Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin. It was made for great-grandma and grandma because they were not used to sleep on soft mattress. But we kids would come to sleep with them due to limit space of family room after growing bigger when during family reunions. Grandma had sewed many large bags to store pillows and comforters piled in this room. There hung pictures of my family and we sisters when little girl.

Besides relocating the power outlet, the most major project was to restore the wood floor. There were already scratches on the dry surface, we needed to sand it, varnish it, waited it to dry, and sand again. The whole process had to be done for 3 times, it took us one week to complete. The papers of sliding door were broken too, so we carefully tore them down and selected a new pattern to change on. Installed shelves on the wall and put up manga books we collected since childhood, this room is not only a backpackers mixed dorm, but also a playroom for grownups and kids!

Makeover Tuesday - 古坑民宿「田心12號」廚房 Kitchen

 古坑民宿「田心12號」原廚房是非常傳統簡易的樣式，基本的流理台，阿嬤的菜櫥，家家戶戶都必備的大圓桌與板凳。阿嬤收藏的鍋碗瓢盆非常多，菜櫥和冰箱裡也有很多醃漬多年的醬菜(都壞掉了啦)。以前逢年過節，這裡是最熱鬧忙碌的地方，媳婦們在這裡料理一家子的飯菜，吃飯時間大人小孩把圓桌坐得滿滿，生怕少吃了哪一盤佳餚。

Makeover Tuesday - 古坑民宿「田心12號」【芭蕾房】BALLET Theme Room

 古坑民宿「田心12號」這個房間原本是叔叔一家的房間，過去一家五口統統擠在木板床上鋪棉被睡覺。木板床上面那些大布包裡就是收藏棉被和枕頭，大布包還是阿嬤自己縫製的，房間內還有簡便的塑膠衣櫥和五斗櫃。冷氣是叔叔自己按裝的，過去老房子沒有特別設計冷氣口，所以電源線就大喇喇的走黑色明管橫越兩片牆壁。牆壁的油漆因為外牆長年受雨水打濕，有出現壁癌剝落的現象。

由於房間天花板中央正好有一根很明顯的屋樑，因為風水原理，所以釘上輕鋼架遮住橫樑，買最經濟的白色石膏板漆上想要的深棕色。我們重新配置電線與開關，汰換破舊的薄木門，整修媽媽的梳妝台嫁妝，利用輪椅輪框製作吊燈，改造老門閂做為掛衣桿，自製電視框架，裁縫窗簾。以身為舞者的大妹做為設計核心，將這個房間變身為全台獨一無二的芭蕾主題房型！

This was Uncle Liu's family room, where total 5 of them squeezed on the hard board bed. Those huge bags were made by grandma to store all the comforters and pillows. Uncle installed the air-con by himself and nailed the power line across the two walls since there was no special outlet design for air-con then. We replaced all the old power cords and relocated the sockets, changed new solid wood door, restored mom's dressing table, made pendant lamp by wheelchair, transformed the old wood bolt to a clothe hanger, made a TV frame, sewed the curtains. Decorated the room by the idea from Mimi, my younger sister who is a ballerina since age 4. 

BALLET theme room is one of the guestrooms of Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin. It displays Mimi’s collection from her dancing life in past 2 decades. Exclusive 100 classic music CDs, iPod/iPhone compatible wall-mount stereo, LCD TV and DVD player. Red, black and white color tone, matched with antique wood furniture, also decorated with my baby sister’s creative items made by recycled old stuffs. Together will give you a country ballet romance.

Makeover Tuesday - 古坑民宿「田心12號」 客廳 Living room

古坑民宿「田心12號」舊有的大廳主要是在門口一進來正擺神桌，雖然有挑高的天花板，但收納空間極少。天花板的壁紙除了多年被線香醺黑，也可見因屋頂漏水而浸濕的水漬。桌椅物品隨意擺放只求不擋道，映像管已潮濕到無法播放的老電視依然放在鐵桌上，書桌桌面放了老式電話、古檯燈以及一堆零碎雜物，牆壁上是傳統家庭會懸掛的中國畫、月曆、日曆，母親以前的水彩習作，還有一兩塊政府致贈給阿祖和阿嬤的匾額。

我們先請了專業的土水師傅執行整個主屋的抓漏和防水工程，請來水電師傅重新配電線及插座出口，請木工師傅粉刷所有牆面，並將天花板翻新。然後我們自己跑了建材行購買木材，裁切成需要的尺寸，大家分工油漆上色，在想要的位置鑽牆釘層版。接著修復珍貴且耐用的古董家具，一步步把擺滿書籍的夢幻客廳打造出來。

The old living room of Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin, was randomly piled with stuff, no storage space even got high ceiling. The wallpaper of the ceiling was damped by leaking roof, the picture tubes of CRT TV failed to perform due to years of humidity. We hired professionals to complete the waterproofing construction, replaced the electricity cables and sockets outlets, renovated the ceiling. Then we personally purchased the wood boards, painted them, installed them to the positions we desired after drilling the walls. We also restored some antique furniture that remained solid and usable, gradually realized the ideal living room full of books that we had always dreamt about.
