This room was the family room for 5 of my family, and my little sister's own room while she studying in Yunlin Tech. University. Although the wall was mottled, she had this room very "student-dorm like", which means messy, LOL! My mom's dressing table and dad's "CEO" desk that used to be in this room are still now serving in other rooms,
The most important thing we wanted to improve during the renovation of this room for Sweet House No.12, the finest B&B in Gukeng, Yunlin, was to efficiently use the the space of high-ceiling wall. (I always admired the idea of bottom to top storage cabinet in foreign magazines.) So I tried my best to conquer my acrophobia, and installed 2 layers of shelves for storing stuffs I seldomly use. In order to create a little gallery atmosphere, I hung 2 beautiful nude paintings by a famous painter, Junwu (Roberto) Liang, to a higher viewing angle. My little sister also made 2 amazing lamp covers, one by cotton strings shaped around a big balloon, another just by cutting a piece of paper board! My favorite is the "treasure box" we picked up at recycling station. We used to have one that belonged to my great grandma, but we had to give it up due to the damage of termite. After the repairing and furbishing to rustic look, it slightly gives this room a vintage touch, and of course another good storage space.
